YUM! It has a weird mix of food, but it's still delicious. It's also small so it can get packed super quick.

A relaxing and inviting restaurant with a small but special range of curry- and hayashi-rice dishes, topped with juicy shrimp and fried chicken. Definitely recommended!

Deep fried pork chop burger, pork chop sandwich and the assorted seafood and hamburger patty plate with rice, spaghetti and salad were very very tasty. Coffee was very good as well. Wonderful view over Ikeda Port. I am thankful to the lady who served meals for us. If you are going to visit Shodoshima, La Clarte is a pleasant place to enjoy good food. The entrance is at the back of the building. You should see a sign right outside the door. If you are in front of the building where the parking lot is, you can walk through the gift shop to the back and then go up the stairs. Menu changes monthly. We checked online before going, but because we went on the first of the month, the two rice dishes had changed completely. We were also lucky they were open because they have a calendar inside the upstairs entrance showing which days they close, and that these days appear to be irregular, but we didn’t see any such info online. While standing near the entrance upstairs, you view the menu, order and pay before taking a seat. We were told to grab our own cutlery when taking our seats, which was not a problem for us. One dish we ordered was a curry that came with karaage chicken (it said so in small letters) although the picture showed fried shrimp. The other dish was a doria (Japanese style rice gratin) that had the same curry sauce as the other dish. They were both good, albeit with a hint of fruity sweetness as you would expect with Japanese curry. We just wished that one dish was NOT curry. What brought us here was mainly the view of the harbor and food photos we saw by other reviewers. Although you can get a decent view from inside the dining room, we got a better view from the counter seats outside. The inside was nice, but the outside felt more peaceful, as we were able to enjoy our lunch without hearing the music playing or noises from the kitchen. The service was excellent, but there were some things about their whole system, as well as other small things that could be improved in order to give customers a better first impression.
